Ok this is a pet peeve of mine. But...  a lot more places are starting to charge and you want to know why....it's because they can.  They see the places on TV and the recognition they get they want to capitalize on it and why not.  People pay, people go, even when they raise the prices.  I think it's a great way to raise money for them and their society for renovations and what not. Keeping history alive and open.

From an investigator standpoint...

However.....and it's a huge however, it makes me mad that some of the places I use to go to regularly now charge.  This is me being mad as an investigator now.  I've been here all these years, going to all these places, helping them for free, getting them their own recognition and all of a sudden now they want to charge me.  I think by charging is going to keep out the investigators who are serious. (To some extent)  I've hardly done any pay for play.  Out of my hundreds of investigations there are only a few I paid for.  1 of them was Rolling Hills and then all the rest we really didn't pay to investigate but more or less come up with an amount to make a donation to the historical society in the groups name.  Other then that they have all been FREE!!!!  I also think the prices are ridiculous!!  I won't pay now.  I just simply won't go or I will stick with the free places.  There are plenty of them.  So when the fad is over and all is said and done these places will have nothing.

Since I have shifted direction in my work I do very few investigations at all.  I am no longer doing private clients (a few exceptions) so I am relegated to doing either pay locations where I have arranged private time or those open sites that are free.  But the truth be told, the pay to hunt places are usually no better than the free sites, just better advertised is all.

I have one investigation set up as of now in May to Waverly Hills.  (Private)  There will be a few other investigators present, but we all all on the same team and are coordinating the effort.  I will be doing an EMF / EVP experiment involving the generation of an EM Field and monitoring for reaction to it by either EVP or any other response.  This will be utilizing some new equipment being specially built just for this project.  That is the direction my work is going now, not doing the general client investigations any more. (Except UFO cases and something that exhibits some unique property)

Any request I get for investigation is being refered to MAARI, (Mid Atlantic Anomalies Research Inititive)

Certainly for ourselves in SP, we definatly would not be paying the huge amounts thats demanded from these locations to investigate them... Its a real gripe for me, we would be spending a lot of time of effort, not only on the investigation but also reviewing etc as well, as you all well know - and what happens at the end of it all... we GIVE them a full report of the findings - along with a CD/DVD of any video or audio.
We do not charge for the above, and give our services free, so why the hell should we pay.

Location that charge... "away and $~/£"

We certainly would not have been going back to Mary Kings Close at the end of next week if it was not for helping out with the charity event, although what we could gain out of it, evidence wise, will remain to be seen.

We are definitely seeing more and more of this popping up all over,it`s rife here in the UK,all I will say and been saying for a long time now is "I refuse to pay vast sums of money to perform an investigation when I can get into locations for free and SP can actually help someone who genuinely needs it eyebrows
